If players in either conventional "football" (aka "soccer" as it is known in the USA) wore shorts this length, one would call it "the beautiful game".
As things stand, soccer players wear the most hideously long shorts - which can be best described as cut-offs (as they inevitably cover nearly all, or all, of the thigh) which, far from making the game beautiful, make it all rather vile. I like to see a boy's leggies not feel I am judging a knobbly knee competitiion ... so let's see some more leggies in soccer and don't let all the pretty Aussie Rules' footballing boyz have a monopoly on showing off their lovely thighs!

The current fad for over long shorts must be coming to an end soon in football- it is elsewhere now thankfully
