The basketball 'short shorts' of the past in this pic reminded me of two things... first how much I hate the long baggy shorts in vogue today, and WHO is responsible. My belief is it started (shorts getting longer) with Michael Jordan from several things I have read....
"Michael Jordan started the trend when he was a rookie with Chicago. He wanted to wear his North Carolina shorts underneath the Bulls shorts, so for this to happen, they became larger and longer to hide the different color of shorts under the home white or away red."

"So what brought about this shorts growth spurt? Megastar Michael Jordan can take most of the credit. In the mid-'80s during his legendary stint with the Chicago Bulls, he allegedly asked Champion, then the team's uniform manufacturer, to make his shorts longer, so he could have something to grab on to when he would bend over, tired from running up and down the court. Before you knew it, players wanted to dress like Mike."
I HATE LONG SHORTS! IN FACT IF THEY ARE SHORTS! THEY MUST BE SHORTS! I CONSIDER SHORT SHORTS TO BE VERY MASCULINE AND THEY MAKES US VERY BRAVE. MACHASOS!
